Something a little different…
A slightly sour smell greets me when I pour this. Not necessarily unpleasant, but sour nonetheless.
The taste follows from the smell, with that same slight sourness.
Sure, it’s a craft lager, but it’s not really lagery; for me it has more character, if very little life in it.
It’s almost following in the footsteps of something like a Sorachi Ace, with the taste, but not so overpowering and cloying.
For a lager it’s interesting, but a lager still.
Where in the North?
Hebden Bridge, near Halifax, West Yorkshire, was described earlier this year, by The Guardian, as “officially the quirkiest/kookiest/koolest/most LGBTQ-friendly/least chain-store-y etc small town in the universe”.
Hebden Bridge used to be known as Fustianopolis because many of its textile mills specialised in fustian - the generic name for corduroy and moleskin.*
