#AroundTheNorthIn80Beers – Day 49
Beer: Belle Saison Sorachi Ace
The Brewer: Caps Off / McColl’s Brewery collaboration
A progression from this collaboration’s Belgian Farmhouse Sorachi Ace.
Like the Belgian Farmhouse, this is a little cloying in smell, with strong banana and sugar aromas.
It has a powerful taste, very sweet. Hits the tongue and the roof of the mouth simultaneously but in different ways. Sweetness around the tongue. Less so on the roof of the mouth.
But while there is no strong aftertaste, I found that the beer feels different depending on the amount of time it hangs around your mouth.
If you’re not a big fan of the really powerful taste, it becomes instantly more enjoyable if you just let it wash through your mouth, rather than swirling it or letting it sit before the swallow.
So, it’s a tale of two beers and there’s probably something for most in this.

The castle itself is beautiful, but we now have the amazing summer Kynren events, while there is also a new art gallery dedicated to mining, and a new viewing tower and Spanish Gallery are under development.
