The Brewer: Red Willow Brewery
It claims to be “gloriously hoppy”. Could do with that at the end of a long couple of days.
First impressions: indeed, it does smell extremely hoppy aroma, with hints of grapefruit.
The taste lives up to the aroma; very flavoursome.
Shameless has a fresh and long lasting aftertaste that almost works an after scent up the back of your mouth and into the nasal passage. It’s an unusual experience.
A note on the look of the beer. It’s a touch cloudy, but as I’ve said in past blogs, that’s not a bad thing. It’s just that in the UK we got hung up on clear beers and have probably been missing out on some beery goodness.
Where in the North?
Macclesfield is a town in Cheshire with a proud industrial heritage and, as “Maclesfield” even featured in the Domesday Book.
Someone from Macclesfield is known as a Maxonian. However, to many, the town is famous for having spawned the band The Macc Lads, possibly best remembered for tunes like Beer & Sex & Chips n Gravy. Gritty.
